If you want to become a doula, the DONA approved Birth Doula training is where you begin.

This training is an interactive course that will help prepare you to become a doula. Whether you want to support a friend throughout the birth process or make a career choice, this course is for you!

DONA International is the premier doula association. With more than 7,000 birth and postpartum doula members and growing, they are the largest doula association in the world. By offering A DONA International training, we are providing quality training and meaningful certification. DONA International serves mothers and families by providing access to information and research about doulas, childbirth and the postpartum experience. DONA International certification sets the bar for doula education and professional development. It indicates to families that a doula has achieved a high level of training and professionalism.
This training is one step towards certification with DONA International. With the high level of recognized training and the knowledge of what it is like to be a doula in Manitoba, this training will leave you with knowledge and inspire you to make a difference in the lives of childbearing women. If you would like to see a DONA Doula Workshop offered in your community, please get in touch with Birth Roots at (204) 792-6769. The training will be offered for free to the organizer in the community. Cost of the training may differ based on expenses and travel for instructors to your community.

-$650 plus gst (for registration paid in one full payment after March 13/17)

With the high level of recognized training and the knowledge of what it is like to be a doula in Manitoba, this training will leave you with knowledge and inspire you to make a difference in the lives of childbearing women. Fall 2017 – DONA certified birth doula training September 23, 24, 30, October 1 2017:

Facilitator Biographies:

Tami Tozeland is a certified birth doula with DONA, certified birth doula trainer with DONA, certified HypnoBirthing Educator as well as a certified childbirth educator with CAPPA and a certified Hypnotherapist. She has worked with Birth Roots for 7 years and has been attending births and mentoring doulas during that time in Winnipeg. She enjoys working with new doulas and experiencing their excitement and motivation to support women and families through the birth process. Tami did her training with Penny Simkin in 2007 in Seatle and loves the diversity of co-teaching this beginning step to becoming a DONA certified birth doula.

Jenn Fontaine is a certified DONA birth doula, a DONA International Birth Doula Trainer, and a certified Lamaze Educator. She took her doula training in 2003 and is passionate about working with pregnant families, and serving their needs. Jenn did her Birth Doula Instructor training in 2008 with Penny Simkin in Vancouver, BC and is the owner of Blissful Beginnings Childbirth Services. She finds it an honour to be able to help new doulas discover their gifts and begin their doula path through this DONA training.
