Barb Berthelette: Birth & Postpartum Doula
My fascination for birth work began when I was my sister's prenatal and labour support person.
This passion was strengthened with the birth of my three children.
Doing work in a pre and postnatal housing facility has only solidified my passion.
Guiding, supporting and encouraging women/families as they begin their own journey into parenthood is such a rewarding, intimate journey.
As a birth and postpartum doula, I would be honoured to support you through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Beth McLaren: Postpartum Doula
Our human compassion binds us to one another." -Nelson Mandela
Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of supporting friends and family through the intense and deeply life-changing journey of parenthood. Yet, it was my former career in healthcare that ignited my motivation to work and provide continued care for infants and their families. While nanny-ing and instructing parents/caregivers child & infant CPR, I began the transition into postpartum doula work.
After completing my postpartum doula training, I began to support families here within the city of Winnipeg. It is through this work experience that I have taken part in and witnessed the power of villages coming together during the fourth trimester and beyond. Together we can provide dedicated, nurturing, all-encompassing care for infants, their parents/caregivers and family.
I believe in compassion and community and their significance in our day-to-day lives. I would be honored to support you and yours.
Bodi Milljour: Birth Doula
I am passionate about helping birthing people to find their own power as they birth not only their babies, but themselves as parents.
I hired a Doula for my first birth; her presence helped me feel heard, even when things seemed overwhelming.
Following the birth of my youngest child, my care provider suggested I consider becoming a Doula. I attended my first training in early 2003, and have been attending births ever since.
Christie Meadows: Birth & Postpartum Doula. Instructor
I am a childbirth educator, birth doula and postpartum doula. I received my trainings through Lamaze International and DONA International in 2019. I live outside of Beausejour, MB with my husband and 4 children and provide service to Winnipeg and the eastern interlake region. I found my passion for supporting women during pregnancy, birth and beyond after attending my nieces birth. I am honoured to be a part of your journey.
Ila Rhodey: Certified Postpartum Doula CPD(DTC)
For as long as I can remember; I have had a great love for all things ‘baby’. As soon as I was old enough, I took my babysitting course and started looking after babies. I spent my summers helping a few mothers through the fourth trimester. I graduated high school and became a nanny until I married, and we started our own family. My passion has lead to my career specializing in nights!
The knowledge and expertise I have gained due to my work experience; gives me much to offer a family as they enter this challenging stage of life. I feel I have an innate ability to cope with the varied challenges presented by newborns. I also have an affinity for new mothers facing the challenges this stage in their life can bring.
I look forward to continuing to do what I love most…Supporting You and your Baby!
Jenna Deeton: Birth & Postpartum Doula
My fascination with pregnancy, birth and babies is how I started on my journey but my passion for supporting and advocating for those in labour, birth and postpartum is what keeps me on this path of birth work.
As a mother of four amazing kids and a surrogate for one wonderful couple, I’ve experienced the beauty of bringing life into the world firsthand.
Being part of such an intimate journey is a profound honour and I am grateful for the opportunity to help create beautiful birth stories.
It is my goal to help families feel empowered and supported in making their birth experience and postpartum time as positive and memorable as possible. I love being able to provide guidance, encouragement and comfort, ensuring that families feel heard, safe and supported every step of the way!
Karli Peters: Birth Doula and Sleep Consultant
I began my birth doula journey before the arrival of my first son many years ago. My heart was called to this path after years of infertility and eventually becoming a mother, enabling me to support, advocate for, listen to, and educate birthing persons and families on their own journeys. There are no words to fully encompass all that someone experiences as their little one is born. I cherish each and every family I work with and am honored to be part of their story.
In 2022, I began my studies to become a sleep consultant and officially became certified in early 2024. Over the years, through my own experience with my boys, I fell in love with all things related to sleep. I am deeply committed to helping families thrive in these early years of parenthood. I love that I can support families throughout pregnancy and birth and help them navigate sleep challenges into the toddler years.
Meghan Duffield: Certified Birth Doula CD(DONA), LCCE
I began my journey as a Birth Doula in 2013. I advocate to improve maternal wellness during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. This includes evidence-based research about pregnancy, labour, informed consent, trauma reduction, social justice, and decision-making to reduce unnecessary interventions during childbirth. This support also includes pregnancy loss. I believe in supporting women and birthing persons to care for themselves and their infants during the postpartum period, and am a dedicated member of the International Lactation Consultant Association. I am also a huge advocate for Breast/Chest feeding and all human milk research! Pregnancy and childbirth are deeply transformative. When a person feels safe and supported, they can trust and surrender to the process of Birth. These moments of strength and self-awareness are powerful and inspiring for me.
I am honored and grateful to support women, and birthing persons, their birth partners, and families, as they embark on this transformative journey.
Ramah Friesen: Birth & Postpartum Doula
I am a mother to 2 beautiful daughters. My journey to becoming a Birth Doula began 14 years ago, upon the birth of my daughter. However it was not until 5 years ago, that that long standing passion turned into more than just a dream. I completed training at that time, to be present for my Sister in law and Brother during the birth of my Nephew.
I am currently in the process of obtaining a Nursing degree, my goal is to work in Labor and Delivery.
I am very passionate about births, as well as caring for newborns and helping birthing persons have the best experience possible both during the birth and after.
My goal is always to help you have the best experience possible, bringing care and compassion, calmness and understanding for yourself and your partner.
It would be a great honour for me to be part of your journey!
Shea Pacaud: Instructor LCCE, RMT
My first experience with birth was at a very young age; my sister was born in our home when I was 9 and I remember watching the midwife and thinking wow, I want to do this when I grow up. As an adult––after graduating from college––I found my way back to birth work and I now work as a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator and massage therapist (with a focus in prenatal and postpartum massage). Informed decision making, unbiased support and an evidence based approach are important to me and play a big role in the way I support the families I work with. I am passionate about assisting families through this chapter of their lives with open arms and the belief that they have the power to have the birth experience they want.
Sonya Jantz: Postpartum Doula
I am an experienced postpartum doula who understands the importance of feeling cared for and supported after a baby arrives. I help families navigate the challenges of adjusting to life with a newborn by offering nonjudgmental support. Through my personal experience as a mom, I recognize how vital this support is in helping parents feel confident, secure, and attuned to their newborns. I understand that each family is unique, with their own experiences, needs, worldview, and values, and I strive to adapt and respond accordingly to ensure every family feels uplifted and able to thrive. I believe that communication, respect, and trust are essential in creating a positive working relationship.
I am honoured to be part of your parenthood journey.
Terra Moravcik: Postpartum Doula
I attended my first official doula training seminar in 1996 with the renowned author and educator Penny Simkin, author of The Birth Partner. I then gained additional training in breastfeeding support through La Leche League International, as well as training in attachment parenting through the Neufeld Institute. Since then, I have had the pleasure of helping many families in my community adjust to life after birth.
I am blessed with eight beautiful children of my own and one precious grandson whom I adore. I cherish all ages and stages of parenting. I am here to support and serve new mothers and their families in the days and weeks after giving birth. I specialize in overnight infant care and feeding support, offering you a full night's rest.
It would be my pleasure and honour to help, support, and serve you as your family adjusts to new life after birth.
Yaosca Karina Castro: Birth & Postpartum Doula
"I am a gender-fluid person of Central American and Mapuche heritage, and I became a birth and postpartum doula in May 2023. My draw to this practice is spiritual and political. Being a birth and postpartum worker allows me to connect with my ancestors by learning, reclaiming, and practicing my people’s traditions, including working with plant medicines. I want to help others feel confident that they are making the best choices for themselves based on their circumstances and that their decisions help affirm how they see themselves. It fills me with meaning to support others holistically and to help people experience more control over their bodies, community, and stories amidst tremendous change.
I hope you meet the birth worker whose values and approach best align with your needs. Thank you for inviting me to participate in this vital time in your life!
